Gala to Honor Dr. Beth Virginia Blau and Gary Koffsky |
PAWS will be hosting its Fifth
Annual Gala on March 12, 2010, at the Venetian Yacht
Club in Babylon Village. This Gala will be an exciting
event with two outstanding community members being
honored: Dr. Beth Virginia Blau, Superintendent of
Schools, and Gary Koffsky, West Islip Soccer League
President. The evening includes dinner and dancing, as
well as raffles. Monies raised that night are for the
education foundation.
PAWS is a 501 (c)3 education foundation that provides
assistance to the school district by assisting students
and purchasing items that the district is not otherwise
able to obtain. PAWS has presented to the district a
Yamaha Baby Grand Piano for the High School Performing
Arts Theatre, Smart Boards for the two middle schools
and high school, a laser/engraver cutting system and a
mobile biotechnology station for the high school,
portable bleachers, and many more numerous items for
each of the district's nine school buildings. Through
the volunteer efforts of PAWS members and the support of
the community and good friends, such as Senator Owen
Johnson, PAWS is assisting the district in providing a
positive learning atmosphere for all students.

PAWS Brick Campaign
|
In
 conjunction with the district’s plans for the installation of
the new high school turf field, PAWS is running a brick
purchasing campaign to help landscape a portion of the
surrounding area. Bricks will be inscribed with the names of the
purchaser. Bricks can be purchased by individuals, families,
sports teams and businesses. All profits from this project will
be used by PAWS to fund items/ideas/initiatives of the students
